I have the majority of my own registrations at Dotster.com and I prefer it over all the other domain registrars. The interface is easy to use and the price is good. A comparable registrar would be GoDaddy.com

When registering your domain name, you can select "private registration" (there's an extra charge for it) and it will make your contact information (name/address/email) not visible on the public WHOIS database. Otherwise spammers can get your email address from there and then spam your contact email.
